Jensen
interceptor 1966-76
This car was a true icon, with a 7.2 litter American v8
engine. This car has two versions the 1950-57 and the 1966-1976. In 1970 the
381ci produced 270hp. In 1971 the car
offered tow variants in the engine one had a 4 barrel carburetor which
produced 305hp the other one had a 2 barrel carburettor which produced 330 hp.
This was there only in 1971 and only 232 cars were produced. This was the most
power full car Jensen ever made. From 1972 till 76 they offered a detuned 2 barrel
carburettor producing 288hp. The styling looks a lot like the Brasinca Uirapuru.
A Brazilian car manufacturer, which produced only 77 due to high production
cost. A new interceptor was announced in
2011 by jaguar.
The lesson to be learned is that none of the British car
companies from their glory days exist now. The ones that exist are those that
are owned by some other company. The
ones that died are the Rover, Jensen and also MG. the ones bought are Jaguar,
Mini and McLaren. They all did not evolve from making the same old heavy metal
cars, leading the Germans and Japanese to succeed.
Good one- makes interesting reading,
